The variety of Spiritual Life programs and events offered to DBU students gives them a chance to experience the journey of servant leadership.

DBU’s Spiritual Life office also seeks to deepen the spiritual walk of every student. Through Spiritual Life ministries and programs, students have the opportunity to be transformed through mentoring from faculty and staff and through ministering to others.

DBU integrates spiritual growth into every aspect of University life. DBU students see faculty and staff model the Christian life, hear straightforward Biblical teaching on real life issues at conferences such as LivePure, and serve alongside faculty and staff locally and around the world.

Spiritual Rush

Spiritual Rush provides a special time of bonding among the DBU family as students and faculty/staff enjoy intimate Bible study together. This popular weekend retreat focuses on spiritual growth and renewal, and gives students a perfect way to meet new friends and grow with some old ones.

livepure

The annual livepure conference emphasizes God's design for living in purity. Through large sessions and a variety of small group sessions, students explore topics such as: pornography, homosexuality, relationship purity, and other topics relative to this generation. This time always includes incredible speakers and impacting worship from exciting bands from across the nation.

Spring/Fall Break Missions

The Spring/Fall Break Mission Trips always present students with amazing opportunities to have a positive impact on others lives.

DBU Life

Concepcion, Chile was one of the most recent Fall Break ventures where students assisted several schools including a private baptist school. Students have also traveled to Guatemala to work in orphanages and host baseball clinics as the Patriot Baseball Team played the Guatemalan National Team in a three game series. If flying is not your style, a DBU Spring Break Mission Trip is just for you.

Grab a couple friends, hop on a DBU shuttle and serve hurricane victims in Louisiana or Houston, participate in a collegiate build with Habitat for Humanity in Pensacola, Florida. No matter your preference, we will surely have an exciting mission opportunity for you to serve.

Encounter Ministries

Encounter Ministries assists local churches in their quest to provide gripping Disciple Now experiences for their youth ministries. DBU students participate in every aspect including: group leaders, worship bands, recreational teams, drama teams, and speaking. Encounter ministries is an exciting chance for DBU students to have a positive impact on junior high and high school students’ lives.

Men's & Women's Ministry

DBU Life

The DBU Men's and Women's Ministries on campus play an active role in the spiritual life of the student body. There are weekly men's and women's bible studies, where the students gather together to study God's word, encourage each other, and lift each other up in prayer. There are monthly events, retreats, and semester parties. Partnering with other organizations on campus the Men's and Women's Ministries work to build you up as a strong man or woman of God.

Baptist Student Ministry (BSM)

Are you interested in being a leader on campus, serving the community, and traveling the world sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ - then BSM is the place for you! The Baptist Student Ministry is a campus ministry of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for students of all denominations. All ministries are student led at the BSM. Students work together to serve the campus, minister to student missionaries, and volunteer at local food banks, homeless shelters, after school programs, retirement homes, and nursing homes. Students are given the opportunity to go on mission trips to spread the gospel as well as the love of Christ to the world. There are also retreats, great guest speakers, time of fellowship, and lots of great concerts featuring such artists as Phil Wickham, Rush of Fools, Shane and Shane, Jeff Johnson, and Kari Jobe. With great opportunities like these, we would love for you to come get involved with the BSM!

Touching the World

DBU students are actively involved in missions and ministries around the country and throughout the world. All entering freshmen are required to participate in six hours of service per month, while upper-level students maintain high levels of involvement in many ministries and missions trips. In addition to consistent opportunities for service with local ministries, DBU sponsors numerous mission trips each year. Recent mission trips have seen DBU students combating the African AIDS epidemic by teaching abstinence to local school children in Swaziland, Africa; ministering to orphans in Guatemala and Peru; and aiding in hurricane relief in New Orleans. Through the program Go Now! Missions, over 40 students spent their summer, fall, and spring breaks in places like China, Thailand, Hawaii, and Malaysia.
