The variety of Spiritual Life programs and events offered to DBU students gives them a chance to experience the journey of servant leadership.
DBU’s Spiritual Life office also seeks to deepen the spiritual walk of every student. Through Spiritual Life ministries and programs, students have the opportunity to be transformed through mentoring from faculty and staff and through ministering to others.
DBU integrates spiritual growth into every aspect of University life. DBU students see faculty and staff model the Christian life, hear straightforward Biblical teaching on real life issues at conferences such as LivePure, and serve alongside faculty and staff locally and around the world.

Spring Revival is a chance to take a break from studying in the Spring to worship with other students and seek the Lord, asking Him for revival in our hearts, on our campus, in our city, nation and world.
Livepure is an event for students who are seriously dating, engaged, or married that encourages them to live purely in their relationships.
Encounter Ministries assists local churches in their quest to provide gripping Disciple Now experiences for their youth ministries. DBU students participate in every aspect including: group leaders, worship bands, recreational teams, drama teams, and speaking. Once a month we have an event called OneNIGHT Worship where we bring in outside worship leaders and artists for a special night of worship on campus. This night includes a Meet & Greet time with the band at 6:30 pm in the Pilgrim Chapel, and the worship night starts at 8:00 pm. Previous guests include Phil Wickham, Shane & Shane, Kari Jobe, Jeff Johnson, Starfield, Rush of Fools, Anthony Evans, Tenth Avenue North, Charlie Hall, and more! It is open and free to the public so come join us for OneNIGHT Worship at DBU!
Chapel Worship Teams
DBU Chapel services are a vibrant time of worship and teaching. Worship music is led by student worship teams. Auditions are held for these teams once a semester. If you are interested in auditioning for one of the Chapel worship teams, you can pick up an audition packet in the Spiritual Life office at any time. You must attend Chapel for at least one semester before auditioning. For further questions, please contact Aaron Zavala at 214-333-6891 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Baptist Student Ministry (BSM)
Are you interested in being a leader on campus, serving the community, and traveling the world sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ - then the Baptist Student Ministry is the place for you! The BSM is a campus ministry of the Baptist General Convention of Texas for students of all denominations. All ministries are student led at the BSM. Students work together to serve the campus, minister to student missionaries, and volunteer at local food banks, homeless shelters, after school programs, retirement homes, and nursing homes. Students are given the opportunity to go on mission trips to spread the gospel as well as the love of Christ to the world.
Iron exists to encourage spiritual growth and brotherhood among our men on campus. Through this ministry it is our hope that our men will grow and mature in their relationship with Christ while building greater brotherhood through Bible study, fellowship, prayer, and mentoring.
As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17
Thread exists in order that women have the opportunity to grow abundantly closer to Christ and obtain uplifting relationships with other women. Through Thread, women will experience discipleship, accountability, challenge, and encouragement in an engaging environment.
Thread offers small groups, exposure events, social events, women's conference, and also partners with an organization in the DFW area called Traffick911.
Touching the World
DBU students are actively involved in missions and ministries around the country and throughout the world. All freshmen students are required to participate in six hours of service per month, while upper-level students are encouraged to maintain high levels of involvement in many ministries and missions trips. In addition to consistent opportunities for service with local ministries, DBU sponsors numerous mission trips each year. Recent mission trips have taken DBU students from the inner city of Sao Paulo, Brazil to the earthquake-ridden areas of Chile to teach English and help rebuild, as well as to New York City to share the Gospel of Christ through one-on-one encounters. The Go Now! Missions program has sent over 40 DBU students to spend their summer, fall, and spring breaks in places like China, Thailand, England, and Malaysia.
Mentoring and Discipleship Program
The mentoring and discipleship program exists as an opportunity for DBU students to be partnered with an upperclassman or a faculty/staff member to learn from, be encouraged by, and to be challenged to follow Christ and know Him more deeply. If you are interested in being mentored (a mentee) or being a mentor, please click the appropriate link below and fill out the online application that will be sent to the mentoring office when you finish and click submit.
